King Charles III returned to his in-person royal duties just weeks after revealing his shocking cancer diagnosis.
The reigning monarch, 75, was photographed meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at Buckingham Palace in London on Wednesday.
His meeting with the politician marked their first in-person audience since Charles’ illness was announced earlier this month.

“Wonderful to see you looking so well,” Sunak told the King, who replied jokingly, “It’s all done with mirrors.”
Charles also told Sunak that he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from the public.

“I’ve had so many wonderful messages and cards. It’s reduced me to tears most of time,” he told the UK PM.
Buckingham Palace announced that Charles was diagnosed with cancer on Feb. 5, after his recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement.
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the statement said.

Charles wanted to share his diagnosis to “prevent speculation” and to help the public understand “those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
His estranged son, Prince Harry, hopped on a jet from California and flew to Clarence House to visit his dad for just an hour after learning of the diagnosis straight from the monarch.

Charles ascended the throne in May 2023 after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died at the age of 96 in September 2022.
