LONDON — King Charles III will postpone his public engagements to receive treatment in hospital for an enlarged prostate.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement Wednesday that the monarch’s condition was benign, but that “in common with thousands of men each year” Charles had “sought treatment” for the condition.
The “corrective procedure” will take place next week, and public engagements “will be postponed for a short period of recuperation,” the statement said.
The news came on the same day that Kensington Palace said Charles’ daughter-in-law Kate, the Princess of Wales, is in hospital after undergoing “planned abdominal surgery,” and is “unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
