King Charles III released a statement reacting to Kate Middleton’s news that she was diagnosed with cancer amid his own cancer battle.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told Page Six that the reigning monarch is “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did.”
Following their time in the hospital together, Charles has “remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks.”
The spokesperson furthered that he and Queen Camila “will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time.”

BBC StudiosMiddleton confirmed that she underwent abdominal surgery in January for what was understood to be a “non-cancerous” condition, only to have follow-up tests reveal that cancer had been present in her body.
“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” Middleton, 42, said in the video released by Kensington Palace on Friday.
The diagnosis came as a “huge shock” to both the Princess of Wales and Prince William, 41, and they have been trying to deal with the matter privately to protect their three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in
order to start my treatment,” she said. “But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything
to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them
that I am going to be ok.”
Middleton did not disclose the specifics of what kind of cancer she has but it’s understood that she is in good spirits and focused on her recovery.
She is now seeking privacy as she completes her treatment for a full recovery, according to palace sources.

While laying low, conspiracy theories swirled about Middleton’s health and whereabouts.
She emerged for the first time since December earlier this month when she and William went to a farm stand in Windsor. Middleton looked happy and healthy, though netizens pointed out that she looked thinner than usual and not like herself.
The news of Middleton’s cancer diagnosis comes nearly two months after Charles revealed his own diagnosis with cancer on Feb. 5.
