Kiran Rao, the talented filmmaker and ex-wife of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, has often been candid about her personal life and relationship. Recently, she opened up about the reaction of her parents when she decided to marry the acclaimed actor. In a revealing conversation, Kiran shared how her parents were shocked and taken aback.

When asked about her parents’ reaction to her decision to marry the actor, Kiran told ANI, “It was a shocker for them. They were taken aback. In their eyes, I had a lot of promise. I was someone who wanted to do a lot of things, and they were worried that I might be overshadowed by Aamir’s larger-than-life persona. When you marry someone incredibly famous, you do lose a part of your own identity. It took me a long time to find my own voice again.”
Praising Aamir, Kiran said, “He has never expected me to be a certain way. He has always been happy for me to be myself, and that’s one of the greatest things about him,” she shared. “Aamir and I will always be there for each other”.
About Aamir and Kiran
The Laal Singh Chaddha actor was married to Reena Dutta with whom he had two kids- Ira and Junaid Khan. However, the got seperated and Aamir marries Kiran Rao in 2005. They together welcomed son Azad in 2011. In 2021, they mutually decided to part and confirmed getting divorced after 16 years. Despite seperation, they continue to share a great bond. Kiran even bonds well with Reena and they are spotted at family functions together.
