Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo has named Paul Scholes as his dream midfield partner.
Those who are fortunate and old enough to have seen the Ginger Prince in action know why Mainoo would love to play alongside a player of Paul Scholes’ class. He read the game quicker than most players and could pick out a pass better than any.
Mainoo, on the other hand, has enjoyed a stellar rise this season, enjoying a remarkable breakthrough campaign thus far. His first senior goal at Old Trafford came on Saturday against Liverpool.
The latest academy graduate to nail down a place in the first team has now admitted that he would have loved to have played alongside United legend Scholes.
Speaking to club media, Mainoo said (via ManUtd.com): “I’d say Paul Scholes. Although there might not be a lot [of] defending between the two of us! But, yeah, Scholes. Scholes – definitely. [Because of] everything. His passing, his movement, the way he could finish. His intelligence. Yes, he was a great player.”
Mainoo now has the opportunity to become a legend of his way. He has a long career ahead of him!
