Kobbie Mainoo has been Manchester United’s breakthrough star of 2023/24.

Along with Alejandro Garnacho, the two FA Youth Cup winners have emerged as key first-team players and it makes United fans proud to see the club’s rich traditions respected by the manager.

Erik ten Hag has the chance to develop two incredible prospects that every football manager would love to have available to them in their squad.

Of course, Ten Hag will aim to keep these players grounded, but so far it’s been impossible not to get sucked in by the hype surrounding Mainoo because he warrants every bit of it.

Mainoo completed six dribbles against Luton Town in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Luton Town. In doing so, the 18-year-old managed to complete more dribbles than any United player in a Premier League game since Paul Pogba (7) in April 2022.

There has been calls for England manager Gareth Southgate to call up Mainoo, with the latest note of pressure coming from Ian Wright during the win over Luton.

England should let Mainoo focus on his development at United for now. He’s got a long career ahead of him and there’s no point rushing him into senior international football.
