Kofi Kingston doesn’t know whether Big E will come back, but he says it’s up to him and Xavier Woods to keep the New Day going.
Big E has not wrestled since March 2022, as he suffered a fractured C1 and C6 cervical vertebrae on a suplex by Ridge Holland. He has since transitioned to a role as a panelist at WWE premium live events. There is no word on when he may return to the ring.
Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Kofi Kingston reflected on Big E’s injury and noted that he and Xavier Woods didn’t hesitate in their goal to keep going.
“The power of positivity is something that we all believe in,” Kofi Kingston said. “He might come back at some point. We don’t know. It’s up to us to keep the torch burning… and [make] The New Day one of the greatest factions in the tag teams of all time. That’s still the goal.”
Kingston also noted that Big E is “loving life”, and he has other opportunities outside of in-ring competition.
Kofi Kingston On WWE Title Win
Kingston also looked back on winning the WWE Championship at WWE WrestleMania 35. He highlighted the importance of Woods and Big E in his journey to that point.
“When I won that match against Daniel Bryan, yes I was in the match, yes I beat him, but it was really like all of us winning that WWE Championship,” Kofi Kingston said. ‘If we didn’t come together, it would have never been possible.’
