The Kogi State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in partnership with the Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), has administered anthrax vaccines on over 200,000 livestock.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday and made available to Arewa PUNCH in Lokoja.
The campaign is focused on safeguarding cattle, sheep, and goats across the state, utilising 540,000 doses of the Anthrax Spore Vaccine.
L-Press noted that the effort was aimed at controlling the spread of the deadly anthrax disease and ensuring the health and productivity of livestock in Kogi State.”
During a visit to one of the vaccination centers, the State Project Coordinator of Kogi L-PRES, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin emphasised that the vaccination exercise underscores the Kogi State Government’s commitment to improving livestock health and supporting farmers’ livelihoods across the state.
“Farmers are advised to bring their animals for vaccination,” Bolarin said.
The vaccination exercise is expected to continue until November 8, 2024.
