As expected, Vincent Kompany was inducted as Bayern’s new coach.

Bayern have their new strong man. As announced several days ago, the German giant has bet on Vincent Kompany as new coach. The Belgian signs a three-year contract and succeeds Thomas Tuchel.

Arriving from Burnley, Kompany was not unanimous within the Bayern board of directors. Uli Hoeness, for example, did not want him on the bench. But, ultimately, and with the intervention of Pep Guardiola in particular, the Bavarian officials threw themselves at him and gave this young coach a chance.

Bayern believe in Kompany

“We are delighted to have signed Vincent Kompany for FC Bayernsaid Bayern president Max Eberl. During our discussions with him, we were immediately on the same wavelength. He made it clear to us how much he liked the position at FC Bayern and that he absolutely wanted to take it. Vincent Kompany is hungry and he has everything he needs. Even as a player he has been a leading figure in top-level international football and he is also progressing as a coach. We would like there to be more continuity in this position. With him we want to achieve a lot at FC Bayern and, of course, achieve success together.”

Kompany will have to get Bayern back on the path to success. The Munich residents are coming out of a season without winning a single trophy and it was a first in twelve years.

Before setting their sights on Kompany, Bayern had sought to enlist nine different coaches, but without success. It is therefore an understatement to say that the former captain of Manchester City was not their captain.
