Congress minister Konda Surekha created quite a stir with her recent comments. The politician found herself in the eye of the storm following her claims about why actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya divorced. Hours after retracting her statement, the Telangana Environment Minister once more made a statement saying that no one knows why the former couple parted ways.
During this interaction, Surekha also claimed that her earlier remarks were based on ‘internal sources’ from the film industry. Read on to know her latest statement.
Konda Surekha: Till today no one knows why they parted ways
On Thursday – a while after retracting her statement via a tweet, the Telangana said, “Whatever I have said is wrong but till today no one knows why Naga Chaitanya and Samatha parted ways, did they ever clarify on that?” She added, “Whatever I have said it was based on our internal sources from the film industry.”
Konda Surekha further added, “I may have reacted angrily but whatever I have said is the truth. I have not hidden anything. I won’t spare KTR.”
Surekha retracts statement
Amidst major flax, the Congress leader withdrew her statement and apologised to the actors for her remarks. She stated that her comments were aimed at BRS working president KT Rama Rao, who had humiliated her. The minister also noted that she mentioned the actors’ names after becoming emotional over Rao’s comments about her. She said, “I had to criticise him (KT Rama Rao). I do not have any personal animosity towards anyone. Taking the name of a family was inadvertent. I felt really bad after seeing her tweet (Samantha’s Instagram). Last night itself, I posted a message unconditionally withdrawing my comments.”
Konda Surekha retracted her controversial statement regarding Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya’s divorce by writing in Telugu, “My intention was only to point out how a leader is belittling towards woman but not to hurt your sentiments, Samantha. The way you have grown exponentially by yourself is something I admire and aspire to. If you or your fans have been hurt by my words, I unconditionally retract them. Please do not take it otherwise.”
