Konosuke Takeshita has joined NJPW.
Takeshita won the NEVER Openweight Championship by defeating Shingo Takagi at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19. He then defended the NEVER title and his AEW International Championship at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty.
In his backstage comments, Konosuke Takeshita announced that he was now affiliated with NJPW, in addition to AEW and DDT.
Takeshita is one of DDT’s most decorated stars, and he has been wrestling for AEW since he started appearing for them in 2021. He has become a breakout star since signing with AEW in 2022, and he won the AEW International Championship at AEW WrestleDream 2024. Takeshita made his NJPW debut in the G1 Climax 34 in 2024, and he wrestled at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed and Strong Style Evolved.
Konosuke Takeshita’s Next Title Match
Backstage after NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty, Takeshita announced that he will defend the NEVER Openweight Championship against KUSHIDA at NJPW Battle in the Valley on January 11. Oleg Boltin also confronted him to set up another title match.
The opponent TAKESHITA chose for the NEVER Championship match in San Jose on January 11th is KUSHIDA.
"You're one of those people who knows the world, right?"
Then Oleg Boltin barges in.
