EXCLUSIVE: The rumors are true: Kriti Sanon has been cast opposite Dhanush to star in Tere Ishk Mein.
Sanon has landed the female lead in the movie, which we can reveal is releasing worldwide in cinemas in Hindi and Tamil on November 28. Rumors of her casting have been swirling since a trailer teased at the role this week.
Tere Ishk Mein is set within the same world as 2013’s Raanjhanaa, reuniting Aanand L Rai, Dhanush and A.R. Rahman for another “intense tale of requited love,” according to producers. Rai is directing and producing. Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar are also producing. Gulshan Kumar, T-Series and Colour are the production partners.
A.R. Rahman has created the soundtrack and Irshad Kamil has written lyrics to the music.
Plot details are broadly under wraps, but a teaser released overnight shows Dhanush’s character from Raanjhanaa,Shankar, with a long beard and hair running with a flaming bottle in hand, as sombre music plays in the background.
Sanon’s character was teased, but we can now confirm the Filmfare Award-winning actress in the role. She is known for films such as 1: Nenokkadine, Heropanti, Dilwale and Mimi. Last year, she appeared in the likes of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and Crew.
Producers are positioning her role as “one of the most iconic female leads in recent cinematic history,” in an “emotional rollercoaster filled with raw intensity, layered storytelling, and moments that leave an indelible mark.”
