Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, the working president of BRS, stated that if BRS had won eight more seats, there would have been a hung Assembly in Telangana. He made these remarks during a preparatory meeting for the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha at Telangana Bhavan. The difference between BRS and Congress was only four lakh votes, and if BRS had secured seven or eight more seats, the State Assembly would have had no clear majority. Additionally, the party lost 14 seats by a small margin and also narrowly missed winning the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat.
Rama Rao accused the Congress party of coming to power through false promises. He challenged party leaders to have people send their electricity bills to Sonia Gandhi, highlighting the unfulfilled promise of free power for domestic consumers using less than 200 units. He called on party workers to expose Congress for their failure to implement promises such as providing unemployment benefits.

Rama Rao acknowledged that the party’s lack of proper organizational committees had led to their setbacks. He assured that they would not repeat past mistakes and mentioned that the party’s legal cell would assist workers facing cases filed by Congress leaders.
Former minister T Harish Rao reassured party members that their recent defeat was just a temporary setback and urged them to remain hopeful about the party’s future. He reminded them that in 2009, when the party won only 10 seats, many believed it was the end for them. Harish Rao credited KCR’s determination for the creation of Telangana and urged party workers to ensure BRS’s victory in the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency. He accused the Congress party of delaying the implementation of guarantees until the Lok Sabha elections and exploiting the election code as an excuse. Former speaker P Srinivas Reddy defended KCR, stating that he was not at fault for the defeat and emphasized that party leaders should take responsibility.
