EXCLUSIVE: Kyle Allen (A Haunting in Venice), Francesca Carpanini and Abubakr Ali (Grendel) are the latest talent to join Kathryn Bigelow‘s new Netflix film.
The untitled thriller also stars Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Jared Harris, Greta Lee, Gabriel Basso, Anthony Ramos, Tracy Letts, Moses Ingram, Malachi Beasley and Aminah Nieves. The film’s title and plot remain under wraps, though sources tell Deadline it will be set at the White House as a national crisis unfolds.
Netflix declined to comment on the casting.
Allen recently wrapped The Life List for Netflix starring opposite Sofia Carson. He was most recently seen in Kenneth Branagh’s film for 20th Century, A Haunting in Venice and the Hulu film Rosaline, opposite Kaitlyn Dever. In 2022, Allen was in Peter Farrelly’s Apple feature, The Greatest Beer Run Ever. Additional credits include Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, The In Between for Paramount+ and Space Oddity. He is repped by UTA, Entertainment 360 and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, and Hoberman.
Carpanini is repped by Stewart Talent, Curtis Brown Group and Circle Management + Production.
Ali played the leading role of “Hunter Rose” in the Netflix/Dark Horse series Grendel. He can also be seen starring as the male lead in the Killer Films / MGM / Amazon film Anything’s Possible, directed by Billy Porter. On stage, Abubakr starred Off-Broadway in the Second Stage Theater production of Toros, a New York Times Critic’s Pick. Other select credits include arcs on Law & Order: Organized Crime, The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Power Book II: Ghost. Ali is represented by Gersh, Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Gang Tyre.
