The 33-year-old admitted he initially didn't tell Guardiola about model Lauryn Goodman's pregnancy but hailed the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager's response.
“He didn’t know what was happening," Walker told The Sun.
“I didn’t want to tell him because I didn’t want him to think I wasn’t mentally there.
“I can’t thank him enough for the understanding and belief he’s shown in me through four years.”
Walker also revealed that Southgate sent a supportive text message after the scandal.
He declined to reveal details but said: “For your national team manager to reach out in a time of need goes beyond football.”
Walker joined City from Tottenham in the summer of 2017 for a fee of £45million.
