It’s no secret that Kylian Mbappé is a die-hard Cristiano Ronaldo fan. The photo of the Bondy native in his room surrounded by photos of the Portuguese star on his walls is well-known. But when he was younger, the Frenchman’s admiration for CR7 turned into an obsession, to the point of tears.

In today’s edition, theTeam reveals an anecdote about the day Mbappé went to see Ronaldo play at the Stade Vélodrome (Marseille) one evening in December 2009. That evening, Marseille were hosting Real Madrid in the Champions League and little Kylian, aged 10, was in ecstasy watching his favourite player score a brace. But his wish was to be able to get closer to him. While a friend who was accompanying him managed to sneak into the car park, he came up against closed doors and prohibitions. Disappointed, Kylian Mbappé started to cry. The story would ultimately end well, since after a few minutes of waiting, Cristiano appeared and agreed to take a photo with him. On Friday evening, at 9pm, during the Euro 2024 quarter-final between France and Portugal, admiration would probably be put aside.
