L1: PSG scatters OL

Two clubs for the same mission, to maintain the euphoria that carried them until then. OL, on the back of a good series of results and notably a hard-won 4-3 against Brest, arrived with newfound confidence on the pitch at the Parc des Princes. PSG, for their part, was coming off their exploit in Barcelona and their qualification for the semi-final of the Champions League. Enough to promise a spectacle and you didn’t have to wait long to see it. From the 3rd minute of play, Barcola overflowed on the left and served Asensio, whose strong cross was deflected into his own goals by Matic (1-0, 3rd).

Barcola hurt his former club, since on a corner, it was he who extended the ball with his head, which Beraldo had the reflex to catapult into the back of the net, from close range (2-0, 7th). The start of the match was ideal for PSG, who also presented a very different team from that of Tuesday evening. Despite 2 goals quickly conceded, OL looked to play and create danger in the opposing camp. The opportunities kept coming: Kolo Muani was caught at the last minute by O’Brien (23rd), Lacazette forced Donnarumma into a tap (25th). But PSG were clearly on top this Sunday evening, the proof with their 3rd goal. Barcola intelligently threw Hakimi on the right side. The Moroccan’s perfect cross found the head of Gonçalo Ramos (3-0, 33rd). In the process, Barcola found the post.

Double from Ramos, Barcola sparkling

The Parisian demonstration was furtively paused for a nice goal from Ernest Nuamah, who fired a nice left-footed shot (3-1, 37th). But she started again quite quickly. Fabulous ball release from Vitinha, acceleration from Zaire-Emery, hidden pass from Asensio and Ramos could score the double (4-1, 42nd). Returning from the locker room, PSG still displayed impressive control. This did not translate into goals, but by an ability to recover the balls very quickly. Diligently, Luis Enrique’s men seemed to be reciting their score by heart.

However, OL did not give up. Cherki (55th) then especially Caqueret (63rd) alerted Donnarumma, solid. Marquinhos took advantage of an ovation from the Parc des Princes to celebrate his record, that of the greatest number of appearances in the Parisian jersey. Skriniar and Mayulu came into play and that changed nothing in the Parisian domination. Here is PSG which now has an 11-point lead over its new runner-up, AS Monaco. OL ends its good run in L1 but remains in the race to secure a European place.
