The Member of Parliament (MP) for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, has presented assorted food items to clan houses in La to support the Homowo celebration.
The items comprising bags of maize, palm friut and smoked fish went to more than 80 clan houses in nine quarters of the constituency including Abese, Kowe, Klannaa, Abafum, Nmati Dzrasee, Nmati Abonase, Leshie, Agbawe and Anahor.
Earlier, the MP had distributed pieces of cloth to groups including Woyei, Asafoatsemei Ke Nyemei, Amlakuei, Wulomei, Dzaseyei and clan heads in the constituency to use in preparation for the celebrations.
The gesture, Ms Sowah said, was in continuation of her annual support to enable the indigenes to prepare the tra¬ditional food ‘Kpokpoi’ for the festive season.
The MP advised Ga-Dangme, especially indigenes and residents of La to be united, law abiding and make peace with one another to foster unity for the common good of La in particular, and Ga-Dangme in general.
“Be each other’s keeper like brothers and sisters from the same parents no matter where each is coming from so as to raise and develop the Ga-Dangme communities,” she said.
Ms Sowah urged everyone especially the elders and the youth to ensure that there was peace before, during and after the celebrations in La.
The MP used the occassion to plead with the citizens to maintain the peaceful asmosphere being enjoyed in the country as we draw near to general elections in December, reminding them that life goes on after the polls.
She said activities such as cooking competition, clean up, visiting of clan houses had been planned to celebrate the occasion.
