LA Knight assesses the deal between WWE and TNA.
With a multi-year partnership in place, stars from WWE NXT and TNA have the continued ability to cross over into each other’s stomping grounds. For some talents, like LA Knight, this comes with an additional chance to return to their former home. While speaking on Casual Conversations With The Classic, Knight pondered the opportunity of reappearing in TNA, where he previously spent four years of his career.
“I don’t know of any plans to do so. I guess never said never,” Knight said.
While Knight isn’t sure about if his future holds a TNA return, he is generally excited about their partnership with WWE, where he currently works. According to Knight, TNA once seemed to be a legitimate competitor to WWE. As such, their new agreement feels all the more surreal.
“At the same time, my thoughts are it’s about five years too late. It should have happened when I was there, then we could do the crossover stuff,” he joked. “It’s kind of cool. It’s unprecedented because even though I would say TNA has been a distant number two for a long time, they were still a number two. They were a threat for a little bit at least in the early 2010s maybe, and with that being the case, I think it’s really just crazy to fathom the idea that now there’s a working partnership. It’s just kind of another example how the landscape of the industry’s changed. We’re leading the way in that regard.”
In recent weeks, the likes of Cora Jade, Axiom, Nathan Frazer, Wes Lee, and TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich have crossed the line, with the latter and Jade now in a feud. During his time in TNA, Knight notably captured the TNA Tag Team and World Championships.
