LA Knight proved he belongs in the WWE main event scene.
The former TNA World Champion shone at the 2024 Royal Rumble when he battled Roman Reigns, Randy Orton and AJ Styles for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
While he didn’t win, LA Knight impressed in the ring with three legendary wrestlers.
Speaking with Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald, LA Knight spoke about how wrestling in a world title match with Roman Reigns, Randy Orton and AJ Styles proved his worth in WWE. Varsallone asked LA Knight how he felt being part of a World title match in WWE. He noted that he doubted his ability to be a top-level wrestler in WWE, but that his performance in that bout proved he belongs at the top.
“If I can just come out here and go a little ‘toot toot’ here a minute. A lot of people would say that was my match. I think I shined in that match. If I can go ahead and say it myself!”
“I think there’s still a lot of people wondering and maybe even sometimes a little bit inside myself – ‘Do I really belong here?’. I think a night like that really proved that, yeah, not only do I belong here, but I thrive here.”
LA Knight Says WrestleMania Match With AJ Styles Is ‘Pretty Crazy’
LA Knight also told Varsallone that the series of events that led to his match against AJ Styles “pretty crazy”. He noted that WrestleMania 40, taking place just hours from where he’s from, is “wild”.
“It’s big, especially if you just look at the last year, where things were and where things have come,” LA Knight said. “It’s a pretty crazy turn of events, if you consider everything in that context. So to look at the fact that it’s me and AJ one-on-one at the fortieth anniversary of WrestleMania, that’s a big one, that big round number, and here we are in Philadelphia, only a couple hours from where I’m from originally in Maryland. That’s pretty wild.
“To have friends and family, and everybody’s gonna be there, you couldn’t really have a much better scenario. Some people would say that this took a long time. I’d be the first to say this took way too long. But in the same token, in a weird way, it’s right on time.”
