At this time last year, LA Knight was the odds-on favorite to capture the Money in the Bank briefcase, but it didn’t happen.

WWE Superstar LA Knight recently spoke to John Pollock of POST Wrestling. When asked to reflect upon last year’s Money in the Bank match and him being the favorite going in, Knight said he was riding a groundswell of support at that point in his career.

“Oh, sure. I mean, going into that, it was such a groundswell,” LA Knight said. “And it just got to kind of a feverish proportion, in the sense of, I don’t think anybody expected that to happen. I don’t think anybody expected where it has gotten to.

“And that was kind of the real jumping off point of like, oh, this is for real. This is a major explosion that we haven’t seen in a long time in this business. So, yeah, it was a crazy experience. And that last moment of reaching up and grabbing that case and that place going completely crazy before I got the goozled. Man, that was wild.”

When asked about his rise in popularity in WWE over the past year and his role as a big player during that time, Knight said the two things weren’t accidental.

“Look, I mean, I don’t want to toot my own horn too much, but toot toot,” LA Knight said. “You look at the rise in the business in general, and I feel like I got to take a little bit of credit for that because with the rise of the business was the rise of LA Knight. That doesn’t happen by accident. So you look at what, five months in a row, top merch seller coming out of 2023. All that stuff, the crazy reactions, all that. And with everybody else picking up their game, the whole company, the whole business picking up their game. Yeah, man, it’s a great place to be.”
