A new era has dawned upon the landscape of WWE and with a new time, comes a brand new champion in Cody Rhodes opening doors to more opportunities for the entire WWE locker room, with LA Knight moving one step closer following tonight’s events on SmackDown.

As announced earlier, GM Nick Aldis scheduled two triple-threat matches for tonight’s edition of SmackDown, one of them featuring LA Knight, Bobby Lashley, and Santos Escobar.

The winner of the bout would go on to face the victor of the other match next week to determine Cody Rhodes’ first challenger for WWE Backlash, taking place in Lyon, France next month.

All three top WWE superstars went back and forth against each other as a huge title opportunity hung in the balance. The match had the fans glued to their seats enjoying every second of the action inside the squared circle.

In the closing moments of the bout, as LA Knigth looked to seize the win, he was attacked by the Angel, Berto, and Electra Lopez of Legado Del Fantasma who also took out Bobby Lashley, only for his cohorts, The Street Profits and B-Fab to neutralize the threat.

Amidst the chaos, LA Knight found the perfect chance to connect with the BFT on Santos to secure the pinfall and move on to next week’s one-on-one No.1 contender bout.
