In a recent turn of events, transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Athletic Bilbao have prepared a new contract offer for their talented forward and Barcelona target, Nico Williams.

This offer includes significant financial improvements and adjustments to his release clause.

It is no secret that Nico has become a hot topic this summer, not just because of his impressive performance in the Euro Cup, but also due to the keen interest shown by Barcelona in securing his services.

Athletic Club going all-out

Currently, he is enjoying his holiday while contemplating his future. Meanwhile, Barcelona have made it clear that they are willing to meet his €58 million release clause and they remain optimistic that he will accept their offer

On the other hand, Athletic Bilbao is confident that Nico will choose to stay.

According to Romano, Athletic Bilbao are prepared to make a significant financial effort to keep the player.

It must be remembered that the winger extended his contract with the Basque club last November. This contract included an increase in salary and maintained the existing termination clause.

However, recognizing his remarkable progress in recent months and the heightened interest from top clubs, Bilbao are ready to offer further financial incentives to convince him to stay.

It’s now upto Nico to decide

Nico now faces a crucial decision: whether to remain with Athletic Bilbao or to consider the enticing offers from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, in Bilbao, there is considerable pressure on him to stay, with fans and club officials alike urging him to continue his journey.

At the same time, Barcelona remains hopeful, buoyed by the discussions and negotiations led by their sporting director, Deco, with Nico’s agent, Felix Tainta.

For Nico, the decision is a pivotal one. Staying with Athletic Bilbao would mean continuing his development in a familiar environment where he is highly valued.

It would also allow him to build on the strong bond he shares with the club and its supporters.

On the other hand, a move to Barcelona or PSG would offer new challenges, opportunities to compete at the highest levels, and the chance to play alongside some of the world’s best players.
