Earlier this summer, when Barcelona were actively scouring the market for a defensive midfielder, the name of Valencia starlet Javi Guerra was very much on the club’s agenda.

The 21-year-old Spaniard enjoyed a solid campaign with Los Che in 2023/24 and is primed to leave Mestalla this summer with there being multiple suitors interested in acquiring his services.

Girona make an offer for Guerra

Indeed, AS reports that apart from Barcelona, clubs like Girona, Real Sociedad, and Napoli have all shown an interest in signing Guerra from Valencia.

The report suggests that all the four clubs have lodged enquiries for the 21-year-old midfield prospect with Valencia.

In fact, Girona are already understood to have made an opening offer for the Spanish ace. Barcelona’s Catalan rivals are on the lookout for a new midfielder after selling Aleix Garcia to Bayer Leverkusen.

Girona intend to make use of the €18 million they received from Garcia’s sale and invest it in signing Guerra, with an offer close to Valencia’s demands now already being lodged.

The report further adds that of the four clubs interested in the 21-year-old, Barcelona are the team with the least chance of signing him.

The Catalans have good reports on Guerra and still have him on the table, while former manager Xavi Hernandez was also an admirer.

However, the signing of a new pivot no longer appears to be a priority at the club and even if they do look to reinforce the position, Mikel Merino is the preferred option.
