La Liga has announced it has asked a lip reader to determine whether or not Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham aimed an alleged ‘slur’ at Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood.
Greenwood faced La Liga giants Real Madrid for Getafe on Thursday night. That is when the incident occurred, although the audio did not pick up what Bellingham said.
The Spanish top flight has released the following statement (via Manchester Evening News) on the matter and announced they will hire a lip reader to investigate further.
“Getafe yesterday transferred the complaint to the La Liga match director. La Liga, as it always does on these occasions, has requested an expert report on lip reading to investigate the matter and act on the basis of what can be proven beyond doubt (by the lip reader).”
It remains to be seen if Bellingham will face any punishment from La Liga, however, if found guilty he is expected to face a potential suspension.
Greenwood is trying to rejuvenate his career in Spain and has been linked with a move to Madrid in the summer. It doesn’t look like his possible arrival would go down well with Bellingham!
The 22-year-old’s contract at Old Trafford expires in 2025.
