The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) and the Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, last Friday presented assorted food items to two Muslim communities in the municipality.
The two beneficiaries namely, the La Muslim Community and La Mother Mosque received 85 bags of rice, 30 bags of sugar, 18 boxes of cooking oil, 15 boxes of tin tomatoes and 8 boxes of milk to be distributed to their members during the fasting period.
Presenting the items on behalf of the MP, the Head of Communication, National Democratic Congress (NDC), La Dade-Kptopon Constituency, Husna Nii Ako Sowah, explained that the items were to assist them to break their fast.
A Senior Social Development Officer at LaDMA, Nii Ashitey Ollenu, said the assembly had a social contract with the people in the community to assist them.
The Chief Imam for La Dade-Kotopon Muslim Community, Sheikh Imam Ibrahim Tijani Leetei-Mensah, thanked the MP and the assembly for remembering them during their fasting periods.
Imam at the La Mothers Mosque, Imam Hafis Mohammed Nuama Osang, said about 30 mosques within their catchment were to benefit from the donation and that would go a long way to support those who cannot afford on daily bases
