The stage is set. Spain will take on England in the final of Euro 2024 later this week and it is safe to say that Luis de la Fuente’s men enter as favourites.

While La Roja have been impressive across the country park, Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams have led the charge in the final third game after game.

The Barcelona star, in fact, is even tipped as one of the favourites to take home the Player of the Tournament award.

Speaking to the media recently, Yamal’s father Mounir Nasraoui basked in his son’s sudden burst onto the elite football scene among other topics.

He began by expressing how he felt after his son’s heroics at the Euros, saying,

“I am living it like everyone else, with happiness and joy, and a lot of love for all of Spain, we have reached the final and I am proud and happy of all the players.”

Yamal’s father then went on to state that he always knew the youngster would be a superstar and that he would always back his talent.

“I knew he was going to be a star, whoever is a father knows that and any father wants his son to be the best,” he said.

“I wish him the best in life and the future and hope that they win the European Championship,” he added, keeping Sunday’s finals against England in mind.

Nasraoui was then asked how Yamal was feeling amidst the constant media attention and fame, to which he said,

“He is euphoric, he wants to be the youngest player to win a European Championship like any child.”

One of the big talking points this week has been the photo of Lionel Messi bathing an infant Lamine Yamal, and the youngster’s father had an interesting take on whether that was the moment Messi ‘passed his powers’ to his son.

“The photo is a coincidence in life. Maybe it was also Lamine who blessed Leo,” he joked.

Finally, he showered praise and blessings on his son who is largely expected to be the next big thing in world football.

“For me, he is the best in everything, not only in football, in love, in person and everything. He is a child and he has a blessing from God, which is very important and must be valued.”
