Hoping to bounce back from the dreadful 0-0 display against Athletic Club, Barcelona took on Mallorca today at home. A win and a solid performance today would go a long way ahead of their clash against Napoli on the weekend.

However, Barcelona had to line up without Pedri and Frenkie de Jong in midfield, who picked up injuries vs Athletic, and Ronald Araujo in defence, who was suspended.

Robert Lewandowski was also rested, with Marc Guiu starting, making it three teenagers in the starting lineup.

Barcelona looked uncoordinated in the first-half, and had the chance to take the lead from a penalty, that Ilkay Gundogan eventually missed. Fortunately, Lamine Yamal stepped up to the plate and delivered the winner with a sensational goal into the top left corner.

“I’m very happy for the win and my goal. I saw the chance to shoot so I took it,” he said about his goal following the win, as quoted by MARCA.

“It was a difficult match, I always try to help the team.”

Yamal reminded everyone about what was at play in two days as they would host Napoli at the Olympic Lluis Montjuic in the Champions League.

“We have to start thinking about the match against Napoli now, it’s a very important match.

Yamal was asked about his Man of the Match award. He has been given the award on a few occasions already this season, including after his brace against Granada.

“Scoring a goal in front of the fans is a dream come true for me,” Yamal answered humbly.

Yamal did limp off the pitch eventually, but it was confirmed after full-time that it was only a knock and that fans need not get worried about it.
