FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has opened up about how close he is to Athletic Club player Nico Williams and revealed he wants to play with him “every week”.

Yamal and Williams became close friends and teammates after Spain won Euro 2024. Both wingers were spectacular for La Roja, and Barcelona tried to reunite them, but the plan fell through as Williams opted to stay at Athletic Club. Yamal told El Horminguero : “I would like to play with him every week, I hope, but he is now at Athletic.”

“We like the same things, the same music, we watch dances on TikTok… I like reggaeton, French music, Brazilian music…”

An unattainable dream

Yamal has had a lot of success with Barcelona this season while Williams has struggled so far. The Catalan side have also signed Dani Olmo and Hansi Flick are now looking to reintegrate Ansu Fati into the squad, if both players shine this season it is possible that they will not sign the Athletic Club winger.

Yamal, meanwhile, will likely start for Barcelona when they face Catalan side Girona in La Liga on Sunday afternoon at Montilivi.
