FC Barcelona have honoured two of its standout players, namely, Lamine Yamal and Aitana Bonmati, by awarding them the prestigious 2024 Barça Players Award for their exceptional sportsmanship throughout the season, reports Mundo Deportivo

This accolade, promoted by the club’s Players’ Association, celebrates individuals who embody values both on and off the field, representing the men’s and women’s teams of FC Barcelona.

This year marked the second consecutive time that the winners were chosen by the Association members themselves, who participated in a voting process held from July 1st to July 7th.

Celebrating the breakthrough of Yamal

Yamal, who is also favourite to win the 2024 Golden Boy award, has had a remarkable debut season with the Blaugrana first team, setting new standards for early success.

Throughout the season, he netted seven goals in the league, including a memorable strike against Mallorca at Montjuic, and provided 10 crucial assists across both domestic and Champions League competitions.

Beyond his athletic prowess, Lamine also exhibited maturity and humility on and off the pitch, making him a role model for his peers, as a result of which, he was selected in the Spanish national team for the ongoing European Championship.

Bonmati: Barcelona’s rising star

Meanwhile, Bonmati has continued to shine brightly for the Barça Women’s team, particularly during a historic season where the team clinched all possible titles.

Aitana notably opened the scoring in the Women’s Champions League final held at San Mames stadium, underscoring her pivotal role in the team’s success.

Off the field, she has emerged as a leader and advocate for women’s football, using her platform to champion its growth and development.

Her commitment to community engagement is evident through her role as an ambassador for the Fundació Barça, where she recently surprised members of the Fundació Barça Genuine during one of their training sessions, sharing her Ballon d’Or and The Best awards from 2023 and 2024 with them.

Both Yamal and Bonmati exemplify the spirit of fair play and excellence that FC Barcelona strives to promote, embodying values that extend beyond the pitch.

As the club looks ahead, these players stand as shining examples of integrity and dedication, inspiring fans and fellow athletes alike with their achievements and conduct both on and off the field.
