Like Real with Bellingham, FC Barcelona had considered enlisting an English midfielder to strengthen their midfielder this winter.

Jordan Henderson, the departing Al-Ettifaq captain, offered himself to FC Barcelona last month. There was a chance that he would head to the Camp Nou, but the move ultimately did not come to fruition.

Henderson could have ended up at Barça

Henderson has agreed to end his contract with Al-Ettifaq and is set to sign with Ajax Amsterdam. According to the daily Sport, the former Liverpool midfielder, aged 33, had tried to convince the Blaugrana leaders to recruit him.

The seasoned midfielder and his management knew the Spanish giants were in the market for a midfielder this month. Barça was therefore contacted to find out if they were interested.

The Blaugrana management, including president Joan Laporta, studied the possibility of concluding a deal with Henderson. But in the end, the response was “no thank you”.
