Both players might not be able to play until the end of the season and could leave for free if they want.

Beyond the disappointment of supporters and press critics, Laporta faces an attempt to completely remove him from power. His former rival for the presidency, Victor Font, of the Si al Futur group, published a letter earlier in the week demanding an explanation and is now demanding that Laporta immediately resign as president.

The petition, which brings together Si al Futur and the other major opposition group “Som un Clam”, as well as eight other groups, described Laporta and his mandate at a point of no return in terms of image, reputation and management. They say the lack of reaction could force them to request a motion of censure to remove him from power.

Reports emerged earlier this week that Laporta has no plans to resign from his post and has no desire to speak out. Barcelona have indicated that no public statement will be made until the registrations of Olmo and Victor are resolved. The club is currently pursuing the matter with the Ministry of Sports and then in court if they do not achieve the desired result.
