The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has commenced a three-day in-house training programme aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency and service delivery of its personnel.
Mr Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser on Transportation to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Lagos.
Giwa stated that the training would cover critical topics to ensure high standards and efficiency.
“The topics include diplomatic enforcement, which involves strategies for effective traffic management while maintaining constructive public relations.
“Also included are advanced techniques for preserving mental and physical well-being in high-pressure situations, upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in traffic operations.
“Other topics include building cohesive teams to optimise productivity and elevate service quality, mastering communication for clarity, precision, and maximum impact, and cultivating emotional intelligence to navigate conflicts and foster positive public engagement,” he said.
He noted that Akinyemi Samuel, an authority in stress management, would lead the session on stress management and wellness, imparting actionable strategies to help participants manage stress and maintain peak effectiveness.
The governor’s aide stated that over 3,000 LASTMA officers have “undergone specialised instruction in various aspects of traffic management,” adding that the state government is committed to the development of its workforce.
“This training underscores LASTMA’s unwavering commitment to continuous capacity enhancement and operational excellence, ensuring that officers are well-equipped with the necessary skills and insights to excel in their roles.
“Since the beginning of the year, LASTMA has prioritised the training and retraining of its personnel, with over 3,000 officers having received specialised instruction in various aspects of traffic management.
“The Lagos State Government places immense emphasis on the professional development of its workforce, ensuring the delivery of exceptional services to the motoring public,” Giwa said.
