FC Barcelona have made an absolutely stunning start to the 2024/25 season under new manager Hansi Flick, but it has not been without major hurdles.

The Blaugrana have been rocked by injuries to several players in the past few months leading to the manager having to make do with some important stars who could make a huge difference on the pitch.

Despite that, Barça have fought hard and won four games on the trot in La Liga to secure the top spot in the standings.

But with a busy schedule ahead, Flick would like to start welcoming some of his injured stars back into the fold as early as possible.

With that in mind, SPORT provides the latest update on all of Barcelona’s injured players and their possible comebacks.

Gavi

Gavi has been out injured since November 19, 2023, after suffering a complete rupture of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament of the right knee and an associated external meniscus injury.

The La Masia gem has started doing individual training but a return is expected to happen sometime between October and November.

Frenkie de Jong

Frenkie de Jong has been sidelined since April 21, 2024, after injuring his ankle during a clash against Real Madrid. The Dutchman’s issue has raised a lot of concern at Barcelona and there has been very little clarity regarding his situation.

However, the report states that he could be back in action between this month and October, which would be a big boost for Flick considering the number of absentees in midfield.

Ronald Araujo

The Uruguayan international has been out since July 15, 2024, due to a hamstring injury he sustained while playing in the Copa America.

Having spent the past few weeks in his homeland, the defender is set to return to Barça for the final phase of his recovery. Araujo’s return is expected to happen towards the end of 2024.

Ansu Fati

The La Masia forward has been out of action since July 24 when he suffered a foot injury in pre-season training.

The good news is that Fati returned to group training today and is expected to be back in action this weekend against Girona.

Andreas Christensen

Christensen was the first Barcelona to get injured after the season started, having been sidelined since August 24 due to Achilles tendinopathy.

Even though it was initially suggested that his return could take place in around two months, the report suggests that he could be out of action until 2025.

Marc Bernal

Bernal suffered an ACL injury while in action for Barcelona against Rayo Vallecano on August 27. Like Gavi, the 17-year-old has also damaged his meniscus apart from just the ACL rupture.

Having undergone surgery today, Bernal has been ruled out for a year, meaning his return will likely take place in September 2025 if there are no setbacks.

Fermin Lopez

Fermin Lopez suffered a muscle injury in the anterior rectus of the left thigh last week while away with the Spain Under-21 national team.

A three-week recovery period has been touted for the midfielder, meaning he could return towards the end of September.
