Latto Performs Alongside TLC

As The Shade Room previously reported, the award ceremony was held at the Dolby Theater in California on Monday, April 1. Latto hit the red carpet at the event, rocking a red, corset-style mini dress adorned with ruffled detailing and red heels.

Additionally, the rapper rocked long, blonde tresses.

According to VIBE, later in the evening, TLC hit the stage to perform their 1999 hit single, ‘No Scrubs.’ The group then followed up with their 1994 hit single, ‘Creep,’ and began to perform their hit song, ‘Waterfalls.’

The outlet reports that TLC member Chilli performed choreography while her bandmate T-Boz led the vocals. To note, the trio was incomplete due to the 2002 passing of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who rapped the verses in the group’s songs.

However, at some point in the performance, Latto surprised the audience by joining the group on stage. Additionally, Latto rapped Left Eye’s verse in the group’s hit song.

Social Media Reacts

Social media users shared mixed reactions to Latto’s appearance with TLC in The Shade Room’s comment section. Many mentioned that the performance would have been a “better fit” for fellow rapper Lil Mama. To note, Lil Mama played Left Eye in VH1’s 2013 biopic of TLC, called ‘CrazySexyCool,’ per MTV.

The Rapper Also Had A Close Run-In With Another Rapper At The Event

While attending the event, Latto also appeared to have a close run with another female rapper — Ice Spice. The Bronx native took home the award for Best New Hip-Hop Artist.

Additionally, Ice Spice appeared on the carpet, rocking a three-piece black ensemble. Check it out below.

Latto and Ice Spice seemingly exchanged bars earlier this year. As The Shade Room previously reported, in January, Ice Spice initially teased her latest single, ‘Think U The S**t (Fart).’

“Think you the s**t, bitch? You not even the fart,” Ice Spice raps in the song.

Then, in February, she revealed that she dropped the song as a reaction to Latto featuring a video of her in a snippet for her upcoming song ‘Sunday Service,’ per The Shade Room.

“I’m in the back of your weak a** snippet. Like, that’s why I was confused. So I was like, ‘Wait a second, that’s me?’ I’m like, ‘Okay since we’re talking about me’ — and I dropped that it was really just a snippet,” Ice Spice explained at the time.

In response, Latto included a picture of Ice on the cover of her artwork for ‘Sunday Service.’ Once the song dropped, Latto even rapped:

“Think I’m the shit? B***h, I know it, hoe/Jesus walked on water, I got Ice boilin’ though.”

On the chorus of ‘Sunday Service,’ Latto also seemed to make it clear that she wouldn’t run away from beef, per Genius.

“Every time y’all book me with them hoes, it’s gon’ be big drama,” Latto raps before adding. “I just want a one on one, don’t know why she so nervous…”

From there, fans seemed to expect Latto to stand on business whenever she and Ice ran into each other.

The opportunity apparently arose on the iHeart Radio Music Awards red carpet.
