LCDA begins bursary, palliatives distribution

The Chairman of the Ifelodun Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Olufemi Okeowo, on Wednesday, began the disbursement of bursary allowances to students and other social security interventions as palliatives to fight off economic hardship.

The Senior Special Assistant to the state Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, gave the highlight of the interventions through a post he shared on his X handle on Wednesday.

According to his post, about N10m has been set aside for disbursement to 200 indigent students of higher institutions who are residents of the LCDA.

“Today, the Chairman of the Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, is rolling out massive palliative measures for people.

“N10m to be disbursed to students and residents of Ifelodun LCDA in higher institutions (100 students now extended to 200). N10,000 for 500 youth in Ifelodun LCDA for six months.

“N50,000 each for 100 petty traders. Social Security for young families in the Ifelodun LCDA.

 N100,000 cash transfer to farmers in Ifelodun LCDA. N100,000 cash transfer to outstanding vocational students.

“1,000 for vulnerable households in Ifelodun LCDA per month, to achieve 6,000 households in six months. Free check-up and basic drug supply for six months. And many more projects, including the construction of a new modern primary healthcare centre, one borehole per ward (seven), and the rehabilitation of primary schools,” Gawat wrote.
