Atlético regained the lead in La Liga on Sunday by beating Osasuna, thanks to a magnificent assist from Clément Lenglet.

Atlético de Madrid now has 14 victories in a row in all competitions! Diego Simeone’s team did not tremble during the visit of Osasuna on Sunday afternoon. A 1-0 victory allows the Colchoneros to return to the top of the standings with one point more than Real (the two teams have now played the same number of matches). Clément Lenglet largely contributed to this success in front of an audience in full communion at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

Antoine Griezmann did not shake the nets for his team this time. At least, he scored from the start on a cross from Nahuel Molina but touched the ball with his arm and the video referee reported the irregularity to the referee on the field. No 13th goal for “Grizi”. The 2018 world champion, however, broke the deadlock before the hour mark.

Griezmann for Lenglet!

On a cross from the right from Griezmann, Clément Lenglet then made a magnificent header for Julian Alvarez, who opened the scoring strongly (55th). The French international defender, starting since the beginning of November (associated with Robin Le Normand this Sunday), has already scored twice this season (once in La Liga, once in the Coupe du Roi). It’s his first assist. Note that, unlike Griezmann, Lenglet has already been Spanish champion, in 2019 with Barça (he is on loan from the Blaugranas this season).

Now leader at the end of this 19th day of La Liga, Atlético will make the short trip to Leganés, in the suburbs close to the capital, next Saturday, while Real Madrid will host Las Palmas the next day. The Pamplona team is 11th.
