Manchester United could be on the verge of signing one of hottest prospects at centre-back in Europe right now.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Leny Yoro en route to the UK to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms with Manchester United.
It would be a huge coup for the Reds to sign the coveted centre-back from Lille.
Reporters have believed that Yoro desired a move to Real Madrid, however, the European champions have yet to match United’s offer.
United and Lille reached an agreement on an initial €62m (£52m) fee last week – but the final decision was left to Yoro.
The report adds that the highly-rated 18-year-old has warmed to the idea of moving to Old Trafford. It’s a massive boost for United in their quest to replace former France international Raphael Varane, but Ornstein stresses there is still work to be done before fans can get too excited.
Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool were also thought to be pursuing Yoro.
Exciting signing for Manchester United?
If a deal materialises, United will be signing the most promising centre-back in Europe, at the age of 18.
Let that sink in a moment – on top of the fact he was wanted by three clubs competing in the Champions League next season.
A lot of critics will point to his salary (whatever they decide on), but we shouldn’t forget that United will be selling their new project to potential signings over the coming weeks. Yoro must like the sound of what we are proposing for the years ahead!
