Leny Yoro says it was ‘incredible’ to make his debut for Manchester United as they defeated Scottish side Rangers 2-0 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Amad Diallo opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the first half and Joe Hugill grabbed the second as Erik ten Hag’s recorded victory over the Glasgow club.

The match saw Yoro make his debut after the 18-year-old centre-back moved to Old Trafford from French side Lille in a deal worth £52.1m this summer.

‘It was incredible,’ Yoro told MUTV. ‘Good game from the team, I was happy with my performance. I hope we continue like that.

‘The team-mates helped me a lot, the staff made me comfortable. On the pitch we are together, so for me it is very good.

‘For me it was not at Rangers’ stadium but Manchester United’s stadium. The fans are everywhere, they are really good with us.

‘Of course they were here for me, it was really important, so thank you to the fans, hope to see you soon at Old Trafford.

‘We [now] go to America for three competitive games. The team will give everything to win them.’

United are due to face Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool in the United States of America.

Yoro’s availability is a boost for United given that Lisandro Martinez is currently resting after his Copa America triumph and Harry Maguire is not yet at full fitness.

Meanwhile, United boss Ten Hag heaped praise on goalscorer Diallo after the victory over Rangers.

‘This has to be Amad Diallo’s year,’ the Dutchman said. ‘We have to see Amad in a different way, he is not inexperienced anymore. I trust him.

‘New signings already here? The leadership is doing [a] great job, for sure.’
