Manchester United are preparing to welcome their second signing of the summer in the form of sought-after starlet Leny Yoro.
The Lille prospect’s name was on the shortlist of a host of top European clubs heading into the window, including the Red Devils, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool.
However, when all reports claimed Yoro only had eyes for Madrid and was willing to see out his contract to seal a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, talks with both PSG and Liverpool fell through.
United, meanwhile, opted to accelerate their interest. They tested Lille’s resolve with a £52 million bid – significantly higher than what Madrid were offering – and saw it swiftly accepted by the Ligue 1 outfit.
After a few days of deliberation by the player, Yoro warmed to the idea of representing the 20-time champions for the foreseeable future.
He flew to Manchester yesterday to complete his medical, after which he’s expected to put pen to paper on a five-year deal.
Reds pick up on Yoro hints ahead of transfer being finalised
Eagle-eyed Reds spotted what they believe were some major hints on Wednesday evening that Yoro was United-bound; he removed ‘Lille’ from his Instagram page and began following fellow youngster Ethan Wheatley, who made his senior debut for the club last season.

It’s entirely possible that the Frenchman met Wheatley during his time at Carrington yesterday as the squad underwent their final preparations for Saturday’s pre-season fixture vs Rangers.
