Barcelona secured their second successive victory in La Liga following a 3-1 win over Alaves on Saturday.

It was a refreshing result for the Catalans, who have endured a tough start to the year so far, with setbacks in both Super Cup and Copa Del Rey.

A major highlight from Barcelona’s win over Alaves came from individual performances, with the likes of Vitor Roque, Andreas Christensen and Robert Lewandowski putting up a solid display.

Speaking to the press after the game (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Lewandowski expressed his happiness with the result, stating, “We controlled the game well both offensively and defensively.”

The Pole, who has been criticised for his inconsistent form this season, notably netted the crucial opener.

Talking about his goal, Lewandowski said, “I am very happy with the goal, it was a very good pass from Gündogan, I saw the space and then I finished well.”

Meanwhile, another Barcelona star Jules Kounde was happy with the result as well. “We needed soul and today we had it. It is a very important victory,” he said, as quoted by MD.

The Frenchman was one of the players most impacted by Xavi’s announcement. But when asked about Barça’s recent performances and whether or not the team has been liberated, the player said, “We don’t feel any more liberated after the coach’s announcement.”

Kounde, though, did highlight that Barça ticked all the boxes against Alaves. “The team is aware that we had to regain our level, and we must regain our defensive strength. I feel better now,” he said.

Following the win, Barcelona remain third in the league table, just six points behind second-placed Girona and seven behind table toppers Real Madrid.

Lewandowski, for one, is confident that a lot can happen during the remainder of the campaign. “There are 3-4 months left in the season, now we have two weeks with only 1 game each where we can work,” the Pole said about Barça’s prospects this season.
