Robert Lewandowski gave Barça victory on Celta’s field (1-2), Saturday evening in Vigo, with a penalty which could have been withdrawn due to the Polish veteran’s run-up…

Thanks to a double from Robert Lewandowski, FC Barcelona snatched three precious points against Celta de Vigo, Saturday in Galicia, on behalf of the 25th day of La Liga. The reigning champions, third in the Spanish standings, are seven points behind Real Madrid, a leader who faces Rayo on Sunday.

“Lewy” opened the scoring with a terrible cross strike before half-time (45th), but the locals equalized through their home scorer Iago Aspas after returning from the locker room (47th). Oscar Mingueza, the defender trained at FCB, is a decisive passer against his former club.

Lewandowski misses his first penalty…

Xavi’s men pushed and ended up winning in added time on a penalty stupidly conceded by Fran Beltran, who hit Lamine Yamal’s posterior. Lewandowski first fell to Vicente Guaita, but the referees had the penalty withdrawn because the Celta goalkeeper was not on his line. The Pole converted his second penalty and the referees did not flinch as the 35-year-old stopped his run-up twice, much to the dismay of the opposing players.

Barça is now preparing for its Champions League round of 16 first leg against Napoli on Wednesday evening in Italy, before hosting Getafe on the heights of Montjuic.
