It’s the big day at the Professional Football League. The election of the next president of the League will take place this Tuesday, September 10. Zoom in on the process and the progress of it.

Vincent Labrune, the big favorite for his re-election as president of the LFP, will be opposed to the surprise general Cyril Linette? Can Vincent Labrune be beaten by the latter? The answer is for today with an election that will be settled during the day.

The highlight of the day will be the LFP general assembly meeting, which will take place from 2:30 p.m. But before that, the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 colleges will gather to appoint their representatives to the board of directors.

In Ligue 1, there is no suspense because seven candidates remain for seven places, following the withdrawals of Kita (Nantes) and Oughourlian (Lens). In Ligue 2, Joannin (Amiens) and Murat (Rodez) will be inducted after the withdrawal of Féry (Lorient).

The election of the LFP president will then take place in three stages: first, the AGM elects the members of the board of directors, then the board meets to determine who wants to run for president. Vincent Labrune, the outgoing president, and Cyril Linette, his opponent, will run. Votes will be by secret ballot with an electronic box.

To be elected in the first round, an absolute majority is required. Otherwise, a second round is organized by simple majority. The choice of the president remains in the hands of the council, even if the AGM does not validate this choice, as was the case four years ago with Labrune, elected with only 42% of the votes. To be continued…
