Betis is stalling again. Beaten by Dinamo Zagreb in the European Cup earlier in the week, the Andalusian club intended to build on their victory in Cadiz last week to grab the lead. But the task looked far from easy against an Alavés team which is gradually regaining color in the championship, with an honorable record of 4 victories in 8 matches since the start of the calendar year.

Imposing their pace from the start, the Basques were very close to catching their opponents cold but Omorodion’s goal was refused for an offside position (2nd). Subsequently, clear chances became rarer and at the end of a contested and choppy game, marked by multiple warnings from both sides, Betis and Alavés parted as good friends (0-0). In the standings, Betis does not benefit from the poor performance of Real Sociedad and remains glued to the doors of European places.
