Beaten by FC Barcelona last weekend and then dominated at the last minute by Paris Saint-Germain for its Champions League debut, Girona was obliged to stop the bleeding on the occasion of the 5th day of La Liga. Thus, the trip to the pitch of Valencia, last in the Spanish championship, came at the right time for Michel’s men with a view to getting back on track. But for the third time in a row, in all competitions, the Catalan club missed out.

Unable to make a difference in the first half, Girona collapsed in the space of two minutes. While the unfortunate Juanpe offered the first goal of the game on a plate to Valencia (1-0, 56th), Dani Gomez hammered the nail in the coffin in the process (2-0, 58th). In the end, it was Valencia who pulled off a nice coup by recording their first victory of the season. Opposite, Girona fell back into its old ways and tumbled down the standings.
