There was La Liga action this Saturday evening with Girona hosting Espanyol Barcelona. The Catalans, stuck in a worrying 19th place in the standings, hoped to succeed in catching an attractive Girona team, 5th, who could continue their good start to the season. This was the case with a clear victory (4-1), thanks to goals from Bryan Gil (4th), Bojan Miovski (16th, 21st) and Ladislav Krejci (27th).

In the other meeting, Las Palmas, 17th, also hoped to take points against Mallorca who started their season well. This was the case until the 90th minute before Mallorca managed to find the fault thanks to Johan Mojica. A narrow victory for the Bermellones (2-3), reduced to ten at the end of the match, which allowed them to move up to 6th place.
