At the opening of the 19th day of La Liga, Rayo Vallecano won at home against Celta de Vigo. In a meeting between two teams who have been on a soft patch since the start of the season, the Madrilenians got off to the best start with Adri Embarba opening the score in the 5th minute of play.

And even after Borja Iglesias’ equalizer in the 26th minute (1-1, 26th), it was ultimately De Frutos who gave the locals the advantage shortly after the hour mark (2-1, 63rd). With this welcome success, Rayo climbs to 9th place. Celta de Vigo are twelfth but are only one point behind their evening opponent. Symbol of a very tight Liga where three small points separate 7th, Real Sociedad, from 14th, Sevilla FC.
