This Saturday late in the afternoon, the Santiago-Bernabeu stadium in Madrid hosted a shock at the top in La Liga. With two small points ahead of their opponent of the day, Real Madrid had the opportunity to relegate their runner-up, Girona, to five points in the event of victory. With a completely overhauled defense and without a real central defender, Carlo Ancelotti had to innovate for his pivot in this crucial meeting. Nevertheless, the Italian technician could count on all his weapons offensively. And this was clearly felt in the first half. Inspired from his first touches, Vinicius launched the hostilities with a sublime strike from 25 meters which landed in the top corner (1-0, 4th).

A superb appetizer to begin the Brazilian winger’s recital. Largely dominant, Real Madrid could also rely on an omnipotent Toni Kroos in the Madrid midfield. With their head underwater, Girona conceded a second goal shortly after the half-hour mark. Already author of an XXL performance, Vini launched Jude Bellingham with a superb outside foot. The English midfielder did not tremble and mystified Gazzaniga before finishing in the empty goal (2-0, 35th). Displaying impressive mastery, the locals completely annihilated the game of the Catalans who simply did not exist during the first 45 minutes.

Jude Bellingham’s injury as the only downside with Real Madrid

Finally, this observation can clearly be applied to the rest of the meeting in Girona. Unrecognizable, Míchel Sánchez’s flock took on water and Vinicius once again taught Yan Couto about life. With a supersonic gesture, the Brazilian got the better of his compatriot and his shot was narrowly stopped by Gazzaniga allowing Bellingham to add to the score in the empty goal. Hit by contact on the left ankle just before his goal, the Englishman finally had to give up his place. A hard blow for Real who are preparing to challenge Leipzig this Tuesday in Germany in the round of 16 of the Champions League (9 p.m.).

But even without their top scorer this season, Rodrygo’s teammates continued to put on a show in front of their supporters. Close to adding to the lead (61st), the Brazilian number 11 finally joined the party with a clear strike a few seconds later (4-0, 63rd). In style, Real Madrid were too strong for Girona this Saturday and the bill could have been even higher. Undefeated for 18 matches in the Iberian elite, the White House clearly seems to be heading towards a new La Liga title and thus consolidates its first place with new success. One thing is certain, the Madrid team is hungry for work and they set the record straight this Saturday against their fiercest opponent.
