Liga: reduced to nine, Celta de Vigo wins in Las Palmas, Rayo comes out on top in Valladolid

This Saturday at 6:30 p.m., two La Liga matches were played simultaneously. Traveling to the Canary Islands, Celta de Vigo wanted to resume their march forward after three matches without a victory in the league. Sharper in the first half, the visitors created the best opportunities. And while Williot Swedberg thought he had opened the scoring, the Swede’s goal was refused for a disputed offside. No problem because, a few minutes later, Celta finally opened the scoring thanks to Borja Iglesias (0-1, 28th). Upon returning from the locker room, Galician affairs got seriously tough. While Ilaix Moriba received a red card following two yellows in a few minutes (54th), the Celta players got angry with the referee.

Too virulent for the taste of the man in black, Iago Aspas, the captain of Celta, also received a red card. No consequence, however, on the final result (1-0). Vigo moves up to 9th place. Las Palmas remains the red lantern. In the other meeting at the end of the afternoon, Rayo Vallecano went for victory on the Valladolid pitch. In difficulty since the start of the season, the Pucelanos nevertheless managed to open the scoring at the start of the second half thanks to Moroccan midfielder Selim Amallah (1-0, 51st). Finally, the capital club wasted no time in equalizing thanks to Jorge De Frutos (1-1, 57th). The latter even scored twice to give Rayo victory (2-1). Valladolid remains in a worrying 19th place while Rayo is now in 8th place.
