For its return to La Liga after a year in the second division, Espanyol traveled to Valladolid on Monday. A balanced match was therefore announced between the men in purple and the Barcelona team. However, the logic was respected and it was the locals who came away with the victory to start the season. In a generally balanced match as expected, the Pucelanos were more incisive offensively and Raul Moro opened the scoring in the first half (1-0, 23rd).

Despite a timid reaction from the Catalans, the score has not changed and Espanyol therefore starts with a setback for its return to the Iberian elite. Next week, the promoted team will have a lot to do with the reception of Real Sociedad. Ronaldo’s club will travel next Sunday to the pitch of a Real Madrid angry after an opening draw in Mallorca (5 p.m.).
